One-Off Engagement

Strategic IT Review

A senior engineer comes to your site, reviews your environment and produces a written report with a clear prioritised roadmap, so you know exactly what to fix first. One fixed price, no ongoing commitment, no obligation to engage Breakwater IT further.

On-Site Assessment

A senior engineer comes to your site — walking the office, observing workflows, reviewing your Microsoft 365 tenancy, backups and network against the four-stage framework.

Written Report

A Breakwater-branded PDF: executive summary, findings by stage, risk-rated recommendations and a phased roadmap. Yours to keep and act on, regardless of what happens next.

Walkthrough Call

A 30-minute call where we present the report, answer your questions, and talk through the roadmap. You leave with a clear picture of where your IT sits today and what to fix first.

No Ongoing Obligation

The report stands alone. Implement the roadmap yourself, with your current provider, or with us — quoted separately off the findings, never as a condition of the review.

How the Engagement Works

A structured four-step process, start to finish, with a clear deliverable at the end.

  • Book the review. Pick a date that suits you. We send a short pre-engagement email covering what we need access-wise — read-only admin on Microsoft 365, the backup console and the network controller.
  • On-site visit. A senior engineer walks your office, talks to whoever handles IT day-to-day, and reviews admin consoles across the four stages — Stabilise, Secure, Optimise and Extend.
  • Written report delivered. We review your tenancy remotely, produce the PDF report and send it through — typically within a week of the on-site visit.
  • Walkthrough call (30 min). We present the findings, answer your questions, and you decide what happens next. The report is yours to keep either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Three things: an on-site assessment of your environment by a senior engineer, a written PDF report covering the executive summary, findings by stage, risk-rated recommendations and a phased roadmap, and a 30-minute walkthrough call where we present the report and answer your questions. The report is yours to keep and act on, regardless of whether you engage Breakwater IT for anything further.

No. The review is a one-off engagement that stands on its own. The report ends with a recommended ongoing engagement section — which tier might suit your business if you do want managed support — but there's no obligation to act on it. You can implement the roadmap yourself, with your current provider, or come back to us later if and when it makes sense.

Typically one week. The on-site visit is a single session booked at a time that suits you. We then spend a day reviewing your tenancy remotely, build the report, and send it through with the walkthrough call scheduled five to seven business days after the on-site visit. Larger or more complex environments may take slightly longer but the price doesn't change.

The first 45 minutes is a walk-through of the office with whoever handles IT day-to-day — we hear their account of the environment before opening a laptop. The remaining time is split across the four stages: networking and backups, security and Microsoft 365, licensing and spend, and a conversation about where the business is heading. We need read-only access to your Microsoft 365 admin centre, backup console and network controller, arranged beforehand by email.

No — it's designed for small and medium businesses, and the price is flat per business regardless of how many users you have. The four-stage framework scales from a handful of staff to a few hundred, because the assessment is about where your IT environment genuinely sits today and what to fix first, not a generic checklist that assumes every business needs the same starting point.
